The Breast is Best

Breastfeeding has always been the best option for babies since life was created by God.

It's not just because it's natural and saves us from formula milk expenses, it's the healthiest option giving our babies the needed antibodies to combat diseases.

Breastfed babies are also known to be healthier and it's also the best bond between a mother and child.

For moms (like me) who are working full time, as much as we would want to breastfeed our babies the entire day, we simply can't.

For others, they simply resort to bottle feeding. Some do try to pump an ample supply of breastmilk while some settle for milk formulas, the quick yet more expensive fix.

Most problems with mix feeding (from breast to bottle) is that the baby gets confused. Obviously, when he's used to feeding from the mom and then transitioned to a bottle, there's a big difference in terms of the amount of milk supplied.

Regular bottles in particular are much more easier for the baby, almost no effort on their part, making them want the bottle over the breast.
This was my biggest worry. I didn't want my baby to go straight to formula and bottle feeding after my 60 day maternity leave.

I was SO HAPPY to have found a great way to be able to feed naturally when I'm at home and from the bottle when at work without confusing my child.

BREASTFLOW BOTTLES

"The Breastflow Bottle from The First Years is the only feeding system that requires both suction and compression to mimic the feel and action of actual breastfeeding. The nipple is designed like the real thing so baby can latch on and to encourage the same mouth and tongue position as breast feeding..."

It basically simulates how a baby feeds from the mom as most babies will be picky due to the transition from breast to bottle, where the bottle usually wins.

But apart from the transition and preference of the child, bottles like breastflow will help wean your child properly.

My personal take on it is that when  a baby is so used to getting his milk easily (as most bottles are just quite convenient that they just drip the entire content when feeding), he develops a pattern that makes him want to consume more milk as suggested by the bottle feeding process. This results to babies who exceed their normal weight especially the ones who are more on formula than breastmilk.
I've had this experience first hand for my daughter. She didn't want to go back to breastfeeding once we let her try feeding from a bottle when I had to take a short break from breastfeeding. Later on, she became more complacent with the bottle that she could finish one feeding quicker than usual.

I like this particular campaign that they have. :)

Therefore, with an alternative means to breastfeeding without compromising the natural way of feeding is I think, the best way for working moms like me.

Obviously, one of the struggles will be to be able to pump the right amount of breastmilk to leave for the day (which I will write about in a couple of days).

PLUS, the bottles are BPA-FREE which is something you need to watch out for when it comes to your baby's feeding items including sippy cups, spoons and other items made of plastic materials.
